Removing

As it stands, there will be a conversion of the drillship in the third quarter of 2012, then the engine will be replaced. This conversion will take place in Brazil at the Keppel FELS shipyard in Angra dos Reis. It is expected that a portion of the stern, including the engine (from truss 27/engineroom bulkhead) is replaced in its entirety.

Collaborate.

The Foundation sees within the totality of the project, created a collaboration of various parties / organizations: industry (available security of manpower, facilities, apprenticeship), Heim(technical museum) and educational institutions.

Historic heritage

The Foundation wishes to make clear to the residents of the municipality of Hengelo what its plans are. A working Hotlo is not only interesting as historical heritage for a number of techies. For Hengelo it fits in the historical ensemble of buildings and Stork producten.It is thus also a tourist attraction and can function in education.

The six project steps

The foundation SOS-HOTLO draws up a project plan consisting of six steps. 1. Acquisition of the Hotlo engine, c.w. spare parts and tools. 2. Disassemly and storage 3. Transport and logistics. 4. Obtaining a location in downtown Hengelo and its installation. 5. Refurbishing the engine and its assembly. 6. Maintenance, custodionship and exploitation.	The projectplan

Acquisition.
The acquisition of the Hotlo engine, c.w. spare parts and tools. Meanwhile fruitful discussions have taken place with the current owners, Noble (drilling) Corporation. Negotions with the Noble management are taking place i.o. to tune the plans around the conversion of the drill ship with our plans regarding the removal and disassembly of the engine.
Disassembly and storage.
For this part, plans depend strongly the way removal and disassembly are developing at the conversion yard in Brazil.
Transport and logistics.
Plans and scenario’s are under development in the way large chunks and parts will be dismantled and transported to Hengelo.
Acquisition of location in Hengelo and installation of the engine.
Meanwhile it has become clear the counsel of Hengelo embraces this moment as the bumping heart in an area currently under development. It is called : Hart van Zuid.” Several parties in Hengelo are confinced The business community and the counsel of the city of Hengelo support this social initiative. Various companies offered their support.
Refurbishing the engine and assembly.
The plan for this step depends strongly on the outcome of 2 and 3. Various scenerios are studied regarding this.
Maintenance , custodianship and exploitation.
The ambition of the foundation entails an operating (once and a while) with the following consequences: • Installation of engine in a closed building due to weather conditions. • Auxiliaries including piping systems containing lubrating oil, cooling liquid, cooling oil , starting air, etc. • A sturdy civil foundation. • The required permits to be issued by local authorities.
